The trip lasts just 40 minutes aboard the Volcan de Tindaya, a modern ferry operated by Naviera Armas, which makes several crossings daily. There’s plenty to do in Playa Blanca, whether you’re lounging on the beach, shopping, or exploring the nearby volcanoes.

Playa Blanca itself is an unspoiled resort with miles of beaches and a modern shopping center. A market is held twice a week at the Marina Rubicón marina. Climb the dormant volcano of Montaña Roja for incredible views of Fuerteventura. Discover the nearby Los Ajaches Nature Reserve with its otherworldly volcanic landscapes and Pliocene fossils. Stroll through the fishing village of Playa Quemada to sample excellent seafood and sip a beer or coffee in Playa Blanca before catching the ferry to Fuerteventura.
